The Abertawe Country Hotel for Cats is a boarding cattery based in Glais, just outside Swansea. I was hired to convert their old static website into a new Drupal 6 powered website.
Previously, owners were unable to add or edit any content, which resulted in key information such as the opening hours and the available breeds of pedigree cats, being out-of-date which caused confusion to both the staff and its customers.
The new website is built around an online booking system, which comprises of a 'Booking' content type that can be created by anonymous users. Bookings are subject to a workflow which places them into a pending state, and a rule is in place to to send a notification email to the Cattery staff. Each request is considered and a decision is made. The workflow state is changed accordingly, and a return email is sent to the customer to inform them if their booking has been placed or not.
Using this setup, reports can easily be run by the Cattery staff to display upcoming bookings within a specified timescale.
